Deyanira Gonzalez joined Lawson & Weitzen as a litigation associate in 2024. She is an empathetic and determined litigator with a sharp eye for detail. Her practice spans employment, personal injury, and commercial and business disputes working with both individual and business clients from the pre-suit demand through discovery and trial. Fluent in Spanish, she represents Spanish-speaking clients directly and conducts her practice in both languages.
Before joining L&W, Deyanira served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, where she began as a student practitioner under Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:03 and went on to handle matters at all stages of criminal prosecution, from arraignment through disposition, including bail and dangerousness hearings, pretrial motions, and both jury and bench trials in Malden District Court. Deyanira’s prior experience as an ADA, paired with her past and current civil experience, sharpened her ability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a case and strengthened her ability to advocate effectively for her clients. She brings the same pragmatic and level-headed approach to adversarial situations both in and out of the courtroom.
During law school, Deyanira interned with the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Civil Rights Unit and the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Unit. She also held judicial internships with Honorable Associate Justice Anthony M. Campo of the Suffolk County Superior Court and the Honorable Associate Justice Sabita Singh of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Prior to law school, Deyanira worked as a fair housing advocate at Metro Housing in Boston, a regional non-profit, where she represented the agency in administrative hearings and investigated housing-discrimination claims. This civil rights work continues to inform her employment practice today. She also completed two years of public service through AmeriCorps, with City Year Boston and AmeriCorps Legal Advocates of Massachusetts.
Outside of work, Deyanira enjoys spending time with loved ones, finding a good bargain, and going to the beach.
